The Control Samples

Origin:

Human samples.

Control:

All sera have been tested by immunoassay for hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis C virus and antibodies to HIV1 and HIV2.

Characterization
Specific IgE: All samples are tested for total IgE and a panel of 144 specific allergens. Common allergens from groups such as foods, mites, tree pollen, etc. are chosen.
Within each group, major common allergens such as d1, house dust mite, e1, cat dander, or f1, egg white, will be represented so that most labs can easily participate in the quality assessment program.
Each vial contains specific IgE antibodies to three different allergens. To reduce the possibility of obtaining a predictive value, each batch of control samples will vary in concentration of specific IgE antibodies. The allergen composition will also vary between batches of control samples.

Total IgE: All samples are tested for total IgE.
Each batch of control samples will vary in concentration of total IgE antibodies in order to reduce the possibility of foreseeing the results.

ECP: All samples are tested for ECP.
Each control sample is lyophilized and should be reconstituted in 0,3 ml distilled water. Each batch of control samples will vary in concentration of ECP in order to reduce the possibility of foreseeing the results.

EliA Autoimmunity: All samples are tested for all EliA analytes.
Each vial contains autoantibodies to three different markers. Every lot of control samples will vary with respect to antibody specificity and concentration.

Which vial should be used?

The kit contains Control Sample/Samples for each month during the 4-month cycle. The vials are numbered 1-12 corresponding to the month in which that vial/vials should be analyzed.

How to analyse?

Quality Club control samples should be treated in the same way as patient samples and run in accordance with the Directions for Use valid for the assay used.
Make sure to transfer the quality club controls to the same type of tubes that are used for the patient samples.
The original Quality Club control vials must not be used in the instrument.
